Sir, – The windy weather has had an effect on election posters hereabouts, and I’m wondering if there’s some kind of synchronicity at play. Fianna Fáil’s “Moving forward together” has done just that, by about 200 metres along the road; the Labour candidate is now bending over backwards; the Green candidate is now outstanding in his own (or someone else’s) field; a former MEP, once a definite liberal, is now leaning well to the right; Aontú has done a 180-degree turn; and a large poster of an Independent, once affixed to a repurposed common wooden item, has come away altogether.
Meteorology clearly has a big say in these matters. Let’s see how things turn out on Friday, and if we need the rainy day fund sooner than we thought. – Yours, etc,
