Sir, – Further to “Gardaí posted to Paris as ‘friendly faces’ during Olympic Games” (News, July 24th), it will come as a great relief to those pleading for extra policing on our streets that at least the streets of Paris will be made safer by the presence of 43 gardaí this August, which is probably a multiple of those present on Dublin’s O’Connell Street at any given time. – Yours, etc,
