Senn and the art of podcasting

Worth a listen

Sir, – I was delighted to read that Fritz Senn was given an award by President Higgins for his lifetime’s work on James Joyce (Terence Killeen, An Irishman’s Diary, February 26th). When I first decided to tackle Ulysses, I listened to the series of podcasts Reading Ulysses in which Fritz and another Joyce expert, Gerry O’Flaherty, explain and summarise each of the 18 episodes in Ulysses. Their podcasts make an excellent companion to the RTÉ dramatisation of Ulysses first broadcast on RTÉ radio on the 100th anniversary of Joyce’s birth in 1982 and now also available as an RTÉ podcast. Both series of podcasts are wonderfully produced and are an example of the excellent work of which RTÉ is capable. I recommend them to any new Joyce reader and I congratulate RTÉ for having the vision to make them available to us after all these years. – Yours, etc,
