Sir, – The initiative of Ryanair in buying homes to provide accommodation for crew should be a model for the HSE to follow (“Ryanair buys most of the homes in new Dublin estate to rent to cabin crew”, News, January 25th). The catch-22 faced by many hospital staff – needing to access urban workplaces at all times of the day or night, often without parking or any accommodation available nearby – is ultimately a problem for all of society. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – According to Ryanair, the houses will be rented at “affordable” rates. What isn’t clear yet are the full terms that will apply to such rentals. For example, how will the beds be allocated? Will staff have to pay a small additional fee to get a bed by a window, in order to avoid the random allocation of beds. Also, will there be a limit to the amount of baggage that staff will be allowed to bring into such houses, free of charge? Ultimately, I assume that terms and conditions will apply. – Yours, etc,
