Sir, – I agree with Ally Bunbury, who thinks letters are better than text messages (“Completing the letter-writing process requires a persistent mindset for a procrastinator”, Life, May 24th). I regularly send postcards to my grandchildren and they love receiving them. I started when my eldest grandson was born 13 years ago and now have eight grandchildren! They keep all the cards in a box.
However, I am not a fan of digital stamps! It is so easy to order stamps on line directly from An Post. They have lots of special editions which are not usually available at the post office.
The service is brilliant too. Orders arrive in 24 hours!
It is a shame that the art of letter writing is under threat. It is such a lovely treat to receive a letter or post card through the letter box. – Yours, etc,
