Sir, – As a former UN peacekeeper, Goal volunteer and election observer (in Haiti), I wish to draw attention to the terrible plight of the Haitian people.
The country badly needs an international peacekeeping force to restore order, a massive humanitarian operation to tackle the cholera epidemic and democratic support for its political institutions. I am glad to see our diplomats on the UN Security Council are working hard to resolve the security situation. It is good to learn that Goal is the leading NGO dealing with the humanitarian situation.
At this time, international intervention is the only solution. – Yours, etc,
