Sir, – Further to “Sipo opts not to investigate Varadkar over GP contract in split decision” (News, November 11th), do I understand correctly that the reason that this issue is not being investigated is that the Standards in Public Office Commission has problems in defining the duties of a taoiseach?
We should be informed if this body has other problems, such as defining the duties of a Minister, TD, senior Civil Service officials, and so on.
Despite Mr Varadkar’s assertion in the case of the leaked document that he has been vindicated, that is not the case.
Having no case to answer and having no forum to judge are two entirely different matters.
