Sir, – RTÉ's Reeling in the Years for the year 1995 recently showed the visit of Bill and Hillary Clinton to Dublin where they were greeted by 80,000 people in College Green. The same programme showed footage of the proposed Luas, saying it would transform Dublin. One cannot but reflect on what a stunning natural outdoor theatre College Green was before Luas, capable of supporting events such as visits by foreign presidents, compared to the horrific-looking debacle is has now become: a sloppy mess of Luas lines and tracks, endless cycle lanes, plastic poles and ad hoc curbs and bottlenecks everywhere. – Yours, etc,
