Sir, – In his excellent article “Catholics want change and they want it now” (Analysis, June 17th), Patsy McGarry quotes an anonymous priest as saying that the clergy of the diocese of Killala are “all mad”.
How I wish it were true! I sense that the Catholic Church needs an injection of creative madness. Unfortunately, most of my colleagues are as cautious as one may find in any Irish Catholic diocese. The few “mad” ones are, however, great fun and often prophetic in their perceptions. – Yours, etc,
