Sir, – The proposal by the Coalition to purchase a new executive jet is, in my opinion, absurd and completely unnecessary.
It shows a deep-seated mindset in our politicians of their own sense of importance.
Our esteemed political leaders need to travel anywhere at short notice but feel they are far too important to use scheduled airlines. They could simply go to any one of the private companies that have fleets of executive jets for hire at a moment’s notice.
Buying a luxury private jet for business travel at taxpayers’ expense would, in my opinion, be the same as buying a chauffeur-driven Ferrari to get home from the pub.
