Sir,- Kevin Myers's statement, "The Sinn FΘin share of the electoral vote in the 1918 election was 48 per cent" is a gross misrepresentation (An Irishman's Diary, October 12th).
In 1918 Sinn FΘin gained 48 per cent of the votes counted. However, no votes were counted in the 24 constituencies where Sinn FΘin was elected unopposed. - Yours, etc.,
Rory O'Farrell, Ballinakill, Waterford.
