Sir, - I can reassure M. Ni Cearnaig, runai, National Graves Association (February 14th), that the Dublin 98 committee does indeed have plans for the Croppies Acre and Luke Cullen's grave.
Ms Ni Cearnaig was present when the matter of Croppies' Acre came up at our very first meeting last September. Unfortunately the NGA has not been represented at our meetings since then, and so was not party to the discussion on February 11th on the most appropriate form of ceremony that might be held at Croppies' Acre to honour the patriots buried there.
Likewise the possibility of honouring Brother Luke Cullen and indeed others such as Matthew Tone, Bartholomew Teeling and Edward Roche (who may be buried in Croppies' Acre) is very much on the agenda of the Dublin 98 committee, along with events at Smithfield, Ballyboughal Kilmainham, and elsewhere during the bicentenary year of 1998. Our meetings take place at 8 pm in the Tailors' Hall, Back Lane, on the second Tuesday of every month, and we would welcome the participation of any organisations or individuals in making this important commemoration a success. - Yours, etc.,
Secretary,
