An article in last Wednesday’s edition referred to a nurse, Doreen Appleby, having been sentenced for stealing money from a dying patient.
An Bord Altranais, the regulatory authority for nurses and midwives, has pointed out that the name of Doreen Walsh-Appleby was removed from the register by order of the High Court on June 14th, 2010, pursuant to section 42 of the Nurses Act, 1985. The register may be searched at www.nursingboard.ie.
In Newton Emerson’s column in the edition of October 5th, reference was made to fracking in the Bog of Allen. Licences have been issued for testing in the Lough Allen basin.
