The caption with a photograph in yesterday’s edition, which illustrated an article on the closure of St Joseph’s Centre for the Visually Impaired at Clonturk House, mistakenly identified a resident of the centre as Brian Allen, the chief executive.
A report in yesterday’s edition stated that the Commission for Taxation had set itself a timeframe of 18 months to complete its work.
In fact, the timeframe of 18 months is set out in its terms of reference; the commission must report no later than September 30th 2009.
An article published in last Tuesday’s edition, concerning the issue of wage cuts, incorrectly stated that the Irish Congress of Trade Unions had agreed to a wage cut for public sector employees.
Congress accepts that the public finances must be restored and rebalanced but not in the manner currently being pursued by the Government.
