The joy, the solace and the divine inspiration of great music are seldom acquired naturally in our upbringing

The joy, the solace and the divine inspiration of great music are seldom acquired naturally in our upbringing. The door to these beauties needs to be opened by the infectious enthusiasm and knowledgeable understanding of a dedicated mentor. Of the gifted few who can impart this, Cait was outstanding. Pupils in Loreto school in Crumlin and members of the Goethe Institute choir as well as many others are mindful of the debt they owe to her for the inspiration and knowledge she imparted to them.

Cait was a gifted soprano soloist with the somewhat unusual adaptability of being also an ideal ensemble singer. Her invaluable contribution to Hans Rosen's An Cor Laoidheogach, the Radio Eireann Singers and the Dowland Consort will be remembered with admiration by her colleagues in these choirs.

Not only are we indebted to Cait for her outstanding gift to the world of music, but also for her loyal friendship which, like music itself, was illuminated by her generous ability to understand other points of view, overcoming all barriers of opinion. She will long be remembered with gratitude and affection, especially by her devoted husband Dick and her caring family.
