A Serbian court has convicted two officers and two former soldiers from the federalYugoslav army for war crimes committed in Kosovo.
They received jailsentences of between three and seven years for the murders of twocivilians in 1999.
The court in the southern Serbian town of Nis foundthe formersoldiers guilty of murdering twoethnic Albanian civilians in a village near Orahovac, centralKosovo, in April 1999.
It was the first war crimes verdict to be delivered by amilitary court in Yugoslavia, which now comprises only the republicsof Serbia and Montenegro.
The court established that all four were responsible for killingthe two civilians.
"By murdering those civilians you have committed war crime andtherefore this court found you guilty," the judge, Colonel Radenko Miladinovic said.
