A YOUTH appeared in court yesterday arising out an attack on a school bus in north Belfast last week.
Five pupils at Castle High School, in Fortwilliam Park, were injured when a large stone was hurled through a window of their Citybus at the junction of the Cliftonville and Westland roads.
Mark Joseph McCartan (17), from Alliance Avenue, Belfast, was charged with maliciously breaking a bus window and causing grievous bodily harm to a 14 year old boy who was struck on the head and had to have six stitches.
McCartan and Gerard Ferguson, also 17, from Knutsford Drive, Belfast, were also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a man two days after the bus incident.
The man suffered a broken jaw, multiple facial injuries and severe bruising and was detained in hospital overnight. The defendants denied the charges and were remanded in custody.
