Robert Bright, the Irish teenager facing charges of murder and robbery in New York, will be formally charged on January 30th at Nassau Criminal Court. His lawyer, Mr Anthony Colleluoiri, said yesterday that his client will enter a plea of not guilty.

The 15 year old, whose family left Ireland in 1993, was arrested on December 7th after police said they recognised him from a videotape showing him holding up a store cashier at gunpoint. The cashier, Mr Mosood Sadiq, and two other men were allegedly taken into a storage room by Robert Bright's accomplice, Richard Robinson, then, according to police, Robinson shot and killed Mr Sadiq, before the two ran from the store.

Bright, who remains on a suicide watch at Nassau County Children's Centre, is expected to appear in court along with Robinson and three others.
