The 10th Junior Dublin Film Festival opens tomorrow night with the Irish animated feature, Carnivale, tomorrow night with the Irish animated feature, Carnivale, directed by Deane Taylor and produced by Russell Boland, both of whom will be in attendance. The wide-ranging international programme includes films from Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Britain, Canada and the US. The closing film on December 8th is Muppets From Space.
The festival has organised a notable series of workshops. Irish director Martin Duffy will introduce his first American feature, The Bumble-bee Flies Anyway, and will give a workshop on film direction. Another Irish director, Vinny Murphy, will talk about writing and directing his first feature, Accelerator. Producer Nigel Warren-Green, of Irish Screen, will outline the filmmaking process from script stage to postproduction. Festival venues are the IFC, the IMAX theatre, Tallaght County Library, the Cineplex in Bray and the UCI cinemas in Blanchardstown, Coolock and Tallaght. For information call (01) 6714095.
