Moscow - President Yeltsin appeared weak and was "unsteady on his feet" yesterday when he arrived in Uzbekistan for a two-day official visit, a witness reported.
A photographer covering arrival ceremonies said that Mr Yeltsin had started to take a step toward the Uzbek honour guard but staggered "and was caught by [Uzbekistan President Islam] Karimov." Mr Yeltsin's spokesman said the president had suffered a chill and was coughing.
