KIEV - President Yeltsin, who arrived in Ukraine yesterday to end years of arguing by the two Slav states over the Black Sea Fleet, said he was sure a long-delayed friendship treaty would be signed today.
"I am sure we will sign an agreement, a declaration. We will sign a string of documents which open huge possibilities for Russians and Ukrainians," Mr Yeltsin said after arriving at Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma's residence for talks. Mr Kuchma seemed equally optimistic.
