World Number one Tiger Woods will defend his Deutsche Bank-SAP Open title over the Gut Kaden course near Hamburg May 15th-18th, organisers announced today.
Woods has become a regular at one of the top events on the European Tour winning the title in 1999, 2001 and 2002 when the event was staged at the St. Leon-Rot course outside Heidelberg.
Last year he defeated Scotland's Colin Montgomerie in a marathon play-off.
But Woods failed to win the last time it was held at Gut Kaden losing to a late-charge from England's Lee Westwood.
The 27-year-old American is currently recovering from knee surgery he underwent in December and is not expected to play again before the end of February.
He is due to compete in the Dubai Desert Classic March 6th-9th before beginning his build-up to the defence of his US Masters title in early April.
The Deutsche Bank would be his only appearance in Europe this year before he takes part in the British Open at Royal St George's in July.
