A WOMAN has been told by a court that she and her family must leave their home in Tallaght within three weeks, under the estate management rules of Dublin Corporation.
The woman was brought before Judge Windle at the District Court by the corporation after complaints by residents of, Fettercairn, Tallaght, about drug-dealing from her house.
The court was told the woman had not been accused of drug-dealing but members of her family had been dealing in drugs from the house. The judge ordered the house be vacated within three weeks.
Mr John Noonan of Fettercairn Against Drugs said the organisation was "delighted". He said the residents had first complained about drugs at the house nine months ago, and this was the first such case to come to court.
"It backs up our support of peaceful protest," he said. "We're delighted, everyone in the area is delighted, and the corporation have shown that they can do the job."
The Department of the Environment is preparing legislation which would allow for specified family members, rather than all the occupants of a corporation or council house, to be required to leave the house in the event of complaints from other residents which were considered justified.
