Gardai were last night seeking a man who stabbed a woman to death at her flat in north Dublin

Gardai were last night seeking a man who stabbed a woman to death at her flat in north Dublin. He had earlier attacked her parents at their home.

The woman's body was found at her home at Sillogue Road, Ballymun, shortly after 10.30 p.m. She had been stabbed repeatedly and died at the scene. She is believed to be in her 20s and from the area.

Less than half an hour earlier, a man wielding a knife forced his way into her parents' home in the same complex. He attacked them and fled. They sustained superficial injuries and were taken to the Mater Hospital. They were later discharged.

Gardai sealed off the flat last night ahead of the arrival of forensics detectives this morning.
