A WOMAN thought she had been shot when she was struck in the mouth by a golf ball, the Circuit Civil Court heard yesterday.
Ann Swan (62), Glencar Court, Ballybrack, Co Dublin, settled her €38,000 damages claim against Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
Conor Cahill, for Ms Swan, told Judge Jacqueline Linnane the case had been settled. The amount was not disclosed.
Ms Swan said that on September 1st, 2005, she was walking through the park when she was struck. She was taken to St Colmcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown, where it was found she had a hole through her upper lip which required extensive stitching. Her upper denture had been badly damaged.
She alleged that the council ought to have known that members of the public frequently walked in the park and she said it had a duty to prohibit the playing of dangerous games there.
