Woman seriously hurt in Dublin crash

A female pedestrian has been seriously injured after being struck by a motorcycle in Dublin this morning.

A female pedestrian has been seriously injured after being struck by a motorcycle in Dublin this morning.

The crash happened on the Crumlin Road at 9.30am.

Both the woman and the male driver of the motorcycle were taken in St James's Hospital where they are being treated for their injuries.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident and are especially keen to speak to the driver of a silver Peugeot car that stopped at the scene.

A Garda spokesman said there is severe traffic congestion on the Naas, Longmile, Drimnagh and Crumlin roads as a result.

Traffic diversions are in place at the Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Kildare Road and all inbound traffic is being channelled to the right.

Outbound traffic is being diverted onto the Old County and Windmill Roads and onto the Kildare Road.

The Crumlin Road has been closed to facilitate a forensic and technical examination.

Anyone attending the Children's Hospital is asked to divert via Keeper Road at the rear of Sundrive Garda station.
