A 37-year-old woman remains in a critical condition in a Belfast hospital following a hit and run collision that killed her friend yesterday.

The woman suffered serious head and leg injuries and is in a serious condition in the city's Royal Victoria Hospital.

Her friend, Anne Marie Dinneen (38) of Southlink in west Belfast, died minutes after she left the Whitefort Inn on the Andersonstown Road.

The PSNI arrested a man last night in connection with the incident.

Police also recovered the red car believed to be have been involved in the incident.

The officer leading the inquiry urged the driver of the car to turn themselves in.
