A woman has pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to attempting to rob a Nigerian shopkeeper and using a knife to intimidate him.
Caroline Lambe (28), of Blackhall Street, made her admissions on the second day of her trial following legal argument in the absence of the jury.
She had originally pleaded not guilty to committing the offences on October 27th, 2000 at the shop on Parnell Street, Dublin 1.
Judge Katherine Delahunt remanded her on continuing bail for mention of the case on April 28th next when a date for sentence is scheduled to be set.
The shop owner had told prosecuting counsel, Mr Damien Colgan BL, that Lambe was with a man who had also demanded money from him after being told to leave the premises.
Lambe produced a knife, threatened to stab him, and also demanded money. He rang the gardaí to whom he pointed out Lambe and her accomplice nearby on Hill Street.
He denied, in cross-examination by defence counsel, Mr Luigi Rea BL, that on the previous night, Lambe and an English woman had sex with two men at the back of the shop, for which they received 'crack cocaine'.
Garda Joanne O'Sullivan said she found a knife with a black handle and a long blade which had been thrown away on Hill Street and arrested Lambe shortly afterwards.
