A female driver died in Dublin this afternoon after apparently being rolled over by her own vehicle in Millbourne Avenue, Drumcondra in Dublin 9 shortly after 1pm.

A spokesman stressed that Gardaí were still investigating the incident but said that it appeared that, either the woman was leaning out the door of the blue Ford Fiesta while reversing when she fell from the vehicle, or the door opened accidentally resulting in her falling under the vehicle.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was on Millbourne Avenue between 12.30pm and 1pm, particularly in the area near the library, who may have witnessed the incident to contact Santry Garda station on 01 6664000.
