A woman was treated in Beaumont Hospital last night for gunshot wounds and two others for shock following an attempted armed robbery at Dunnes Stores in Dublin's Northside Shopping Centre. The incident happened at about 8.30 p.m.

According to gardai, two armed men entered the store, one wielding a shotgun and the other a knife. The man with the shotgun fired it into the ceiling and in the resulting ricochet a woman "received some pellet wounds", but was not thought to be seriously injured. This was later confirmed by a spokesperson for Beaumont Hospital, who said that none of the three women was seriously hurt.

A car which is believed to have been used by the two men was later found abandoned in nearby Bunratty Road, according to gardai at Coolock, who are investigating the incident.
