A woman in her 30s has been arrested in connection with the death of an 18-year-old man in Dundalk in October.

A woman in her 30s has been arrested in connection with the death of an 18-year-old man in Dundalk in October.

Niall Dorr died in hospital on Friday, October 15th, two days after he sustained head and facial injuries during an assault on Castle Road.

Mr Dorr was with three friends walking along the road when they became involved in an altercation with another group.

He was the only person to sustain any serious injury.

Just hours before the assault, Mr Dorr had attended an interview to join the Army. He had already passed the fitness test.

Mr Dorr, who was due to celebrate his 19th birthday in November, attended St Mary’s College in Dundalk, and recently completed a post-Leaving Certificate course in art at O’Fiach College.

He had previously represented Ireland in the World Kickboxing Championships, winning a silver medal.

The woman arrested this morning in Dundalk was the sixth person to be detained in connection with Mr Dorr's death. She is currently being held at Dundalk Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
