A 24-year-old Nigerian woman is being questioned today in connection with the death of a Malawi mother-of-two in Kilkenny in July.

Paiche Onyemaechi's badly beaten and decapitated body was found wrapped in a black plastic bag near the village of Piltown, Co Kilkenny, on July 23rd.

The 25-year-old was the daughter of Malawian Chief Justice Mr Leonard Unyolo. She had been missing from her Waterford home for three weeks before her body was discovered.

Gardaí said a woman was arrested in Waterford yesterday morning under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

She is being questioned at a Garda station in the city and can be held for up to 72 hours.

Ms Onyemaechi's badly decomposed body was found by a passer-by just outside Piltown. No-one has been charged with her murder.

Gardaí in Dublin questioned two Nigerian men in the weeks after the body was found but they were released without charge.

Ms Onyemaechi's husband, Chika (31), has not been seen since shortly after her body was identified.
