A woman remained in custody tonight for questioning after the body of 67-year-old Seamus Doherty was found dead on the bathroom floor of his Donegal home
Although gardaí did not initially suspect foul play; a postmortem carried out by State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy at Letterkenny General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon indicated Mr Doherty had suffered a traumatic death. The investigation was then upgraded to a murder enquiry.
Mr Doherty was found dead at his home at Drumacanoo in Churchill at around 1.30am on Sunday.
Gardaí yesterday arrested two people in connection with the murder; a man in his 40s who was arrested yesterday evening and a woman in her 50s who was detained this morning.
The male was later released without charge. The woman is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Letterkenny Garda station.
