A homeless woman died after being crushed by the wheel of an articulated lorry, Dublin City Coroner's Court has heard.

Lisa Perkins (31), of no fixed address, died on September 28th, 2004, of multiple injuries she sustained in an incident 13 days earlier at Usher's Island on Dublin's south quays. Gardaí have been unable to locate members of her family.

Coroner Brian Farrell heard that, at about 6.30pm on September 15th, 2004, five people were seen arguing on the footpath at Usher's Island. A woman was seen walking from the group towards a lorry that was stopped at traffic lights.

When the lorry made to move off, its driver of 30 years' experience, Ian Rieber, felt his steering wheel shudder, "as though I had gone into a pothole". When he stopped the lorry and made his way to the path, he saw a woman trapped near the front wheel.
