Two Dublin gardaí were last night forced into the unusual position of having to assist in the delivery of a baby when a pregnant woman gave birth in their station.
The mother is understood to have stopped at Rathcoole Village late last night while en route to the Coombe Hospital and requested an escort.
However, the baby had other ideas and was born in the station with the assistance of the gardaí.
The baby was said to have been born without complication and both mother and child were said to be doing fine this morning.
