A woman has been fatally stabbed and a man seriously injured in Co Tyrone today.
Police were informed of the incident in the Merron Mews area of Dungannon this afternoon at about 3.30pm. The man is being treated in hospital.
DUP Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Lord Morrow condemned the “vicious and brutal incident”. He said: “As a local representative I extend my sympathies to the families involved.
“In recent weeks we have witnessed several stabbings and once again this highlights the need for proper criminal justice policies to be in place.
Earlier a man was stabbed in the head and eye in west Belfast. The victim, in his 20s, was assaulted by several men outside his flat at Lenadoon Avenue.
He was stabbed three times just before 2am. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
A woman in her 20s and two men in their 50s and 30s were arrested.
