A woman (43) has died in a house fire in Northern Ireland today. The fire broke out in the Smithfield area of the Old Warren estate, Lisburn, Co Antrim, shortly before 1.30am.
The woman was on her own in an upstairs bedroom of the two-storey mid-terrace home.
Fire Service group commander Mark McGranaghan said the house was well alight and burning intensely when the emergency services arrived.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus fought their way through the flames and removed the female occupant from the first-floor bedroom,” he said.
