A 44-year-old woman died today after falling from her horse during an equestrian event.
The incident happened shortly after 2 pm at a meet organised by Eventing Ireland at Ballindenisk Equestrian Centre, Watergrass Hill in north Cork.
A garda spokeswoman described it as a tragic accident and said the woman was not from the area.
"Shortly after 2 pm gardai received a call to say a 44-year-old female was seriously injured," she said.
"She was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor and she was removed to Cork University Hospital." (PA)
