Dublin Coroner's Court:A retired care worker who died hours after having a row outside a chipper had suffered a blunt force trauma to the head, Dublin Coroner's Court heard.

Phyllis Black (51), the Liberty House apartment complex off Railway Street, Dublin, was found dead in her home on the evening of May 20th this year. She had attended the Mater hospital in the early hours of the same day, having been involved in an altercation outside a takeaway on Parnell Street.

Ms Black had been out socialising with her sister and friends at Brannigan’s Pub on Cathedral Street and had gone to the local chip shop on her way home at about 3.15am. It is understood there was an exchange between two groups outside the takeaway and Ms Black either fell or was knocked to the ground during the incident.

Det Garda Insp Willie McKenna told the coroner the investigation into Ms Black’s death was nearing an end and that gardaí expected to send a file to the DPP soon. The coroner adjourned the hearing for further mention on December 14th.
