A woman in her 30s was in Garda custody last night following the seizure of drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy, with an estimated street value of €350,000. The seizure was made at a house in Lucan, west Dublin on Thursday evening.
Her arrest followed a planned operation by the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, during which officers searched the house in the Earlsfort Road area at about 10pm.
"What appears to be a revolver and a quantity of ammunition were recovered during the search," a Garda spokesman said.
"In addition, 3.5kg of cocaine, 8oz of what is believed to be crystal meth, 10,000 ecstasy tablets and various drug paraphernalia was also seized. The estimated street value of the drugs seized pending forensic analysis is €350,000."
The woman was arrested, and is being detained at Lucan Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Welcoming news of the seizure, local Fianna Fáil TD John Curran said drug and gun crime was becoming an issue in the Lucan area.
"This recent seizure is a welcome step in the fight against crime and protecting the people on our streets."
