A 54-year-old woman who claims she was abused and raped as a young girl in Kerry from the age of 11 until after her 16th birthday had also been raped by another man, a neighbour, when she was five, she told the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Tralee, yesterday.
A 71-year-old man is standing trial on 18 counts including rape and indecent assault of the woman 40 years ago. He has denied all charges.
The offences, which include four counts of rape, are alleged to have occurred between April 1969 and April 1975.
The assaults began when she was 11 and occurred in the bedroom where she slept with some of the accused man’s children, she has outlined to the court.
