A 41-year-old woman was charged last night in connection with this week's failed mortarbomb attack on an RUC station in Newry, Co Down. She will appear at Newry and Mourne Magistrates' Court this morning on a charge of conspiring to cause an explosion.

The woman was detained after a mortar-bomb was discovered near the Corry Square RUC station in the centre of the town on Tuesday. A youth arrested at the same time has been released without charge.

The incident was the fifth attempted mortar attack on the security forces since last March. The mortars have all misfired and there have been no casualties.
