A spokeswoman said the woman (36) was approached by two men on Westland Road in the north of the city at about 11 p.m. They initially struck up a conversation but then attacked her from behind, wrestling her to the ground.

They proceeded to remove her black tee-shirt and indecently assault her, the spokeswoman said. The tee-shirt has not been found.

The men - described as being tall and dark - were scared off by passers by. Police are appealing for witnesses.
