The youth killed in a gang fight in the centre of Dublin may have died from a combination of head injuries and the effects of alcohol.
Mr Brian Ruth (19), from Tallaght, suffered, a severe beating during a fight between his friends and a gang of four or five men in Westmoreland Street, around 1 a.m. on Friday.
Gardai believe Mr Ruth and his two friends had an argument with a man in his 20s out side the Abrakebabra fast food bar. The man left and returned shortly afterwards with friends who attacked Mr Ruth, who was intoxicated.
Only limited views of the incident have been gained from video surveillance in the area. Gardai yesterday appealed for information from anyone in the area at the time, particularly from anyone on a 39X Late Link bus to Mulhuddart, which drove past as the incident was taking place.
