A FORMER girlfriend of one of the teenagers accused of killing a pensioner, Bessie Robson, 14 months ago, told a Belfast court she saw them wash blood from their clothes and shoes.
But Theresa McLarnon (17), who knew nothing of the 83 year old's murder until days later, claimed the pair told her they'd Just killed a "Provie".
Her former boyfriend, Mr Colin King (18), from Newington Avenue and Mr Adrian Wilson (19), of Cavehill Road, blame each other for stabbing the widowed and retired teacher five times on December 29th 1994.
The prosecution claims they set her Bellevue Park home on fire after dousing the pensioner with methylated spirits.
The prosecution also claims after the murder the pair called for Ms McLarnon and told her the IRA was after them. Ms McLarnon told the Crown Court that while Mr King "appeared very shocked", "Scottie" Wilson "was singing and was happy and all".
She said after going to a friend's house she asked Mr King what he had done, to which he replied "very thing, everything. We have to go away to the Isle of Man."
"I asked him again and he said he killed a Provie. He was shaking, his eyes wide open and he was really nervous and scared," she added.
Ms McLarnon, who had gone out with Mr King from the summer to November 1994, said the three of them went to the bathroom where she first watched Mr Wilson wash blood from his clothes and boots using a face cloth.
She said she saw Mr King's neck had "three or four scrabs on it" and that there was blood on his top, and its cuff, which she helped wash off. Afterwards Mr Wilson took the face cloth and flushed it down the toilet.
She added all three then left the house, although Mr King wanted to remain, and they went to her home where she phoned them a taxi.
Ms McLarnon said that when, five days later, she found out about Mrs Rob son's murder she asked Mr King if he was involved, but he denied it.
The trial continues today.
