England 48 France 19
Jonny Wilkinson kicked his way into the record books today as England beat France 48-19 at Twickenham to move four points clear at the top of the Six Nations championship.
France appeared capable of producing a surprise victory when they took a 16-13 halftime lead.
But second half tries from Richard Hill, Iain Balshaw, Phil Greening, Mike Catt and Matt Perry made the game safe for Clive Woodward's side.
Wilkinson, the 21-year-old fly-half, became England's leading points scorer in international rugby when he kicked a penalty goal after 40 minutes.
His haul of 18 points from the match took him to a career total of 407 points from 27 matches, surpassing the previous best of 396 held by the retired Rob Andrew.
England's victory was their fourth of the Six Nations championship. They lead the table with eight points ahead of Ireland and France who have four points apiece.
