A group of European engineers and ecologists will meet in Dublin next week as part of a Europe-wide effort to create guidelines on road-building which will protect wildlife.
The group, whose Irish representative is UCD professor of civil engineering, Mr Eugene O'Brien, will be looking at ways some species and their habitats get isolated byroads construction.
The group will be visiting the Glen of the Downs, in Co Wicklow next Wednesday, where it will view measures being taken to provide safe crossing points for animals.
