MRS SHIRLEY TAYLOR, the wife of the missing insurance broker, Mr Tony Taylor, may seek her share of around £400,000 which will be left over from the sale of the family home.
The five bedroom house, at Anglesea Road, Dublin, fetched £580,000 at auction yesterday, well above its pre sale £400,000 guideline price. It was put on the market by the Guane agency on behalf of National Irish Bank.
The bank, which is owed around £120,000, was granted a repossession order on the property by the High Court last month. The remaining money, which could total £400,000 after commissions and expenses, will be lodged in the High Court.
It is understood that the court will then rule on how the money should be disposed of.
However, it is believed that several parties who feel they are owed money may try to obtain it. These could include the liquidator of the Taylor Group companies, Mr Paddy McSwiney, of BDO Simpson Xavier.
Mr Taylor left Ireland last August, following a Department of Enterprise and Employment investigation into his companies' affairs. Mr Taylor's former clients claim around £2.5 million of their funds is missing.
Mr Taylor's wife left Ireland with him, but has been in contact with former employees of the Taylor Group here.
The property, known as Somerset, for which the couple are said to have paid £230,000 three years ago, attracted keen interest. Among those who attended yesterday's auction was the singer, Dickie Rock.
