Who's got rhythm?

Vib-Ribbon Sony PlayStation - £19.99

Vib-Ribbon Sony PlayStation - £19.99

Parappa the Rapper started a new genre of video-gaming when it launched. Rhythm games require you to hit certain buttons in rhythm to the music being played. The latest in the genre, Vib-Ribbon, has some unique qualities. Vibri hops, skips and jumps along an infinitely long line (the Vib-Ribbon) but the sound of music causes the Vib-Ribbon to change shape. Vibri must overcome these obstacles as they appear on the VibRibbon. The real beauty of the game is that you can use your own CDs and see how they affect the Vib-Ribbon. Ultimately this means that there is an infinite number of levels to play the game on, only limited by the size of your CD collection.

Vagrant Story Sony PlayStation £34.99

Vagrant story should please role-playing game enthusiasts. All the usual elements are there - gaining experience points, forming parties and collecting odds and ends to help you in your adventures. The rather unusual combat system is tougher than most RPGs and you will need quick reflexes, even if you have plenty of experience points. Though rather short, Vagrant Story is an excellent game.
