The World Health Organization (WHO) has withdrawn its warning against travel to Hong Kong and the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.
WHO issued its original alerts on April 2nd but said the outbreaks there of the potentially deadly virus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome were under control.
The Geneva-based UN health agency said it continued to recommend that all international passengers leaving Hong Kong and Guangdong be screened to ensure those suffering from SARS or who are contacts of SARS cases do not travel.
Hong Kong and China are among the countries banned from travelling to the Special Olympic games in Ireland next month.
Earlier this week the Department of Health lifted the ban on the Philippines after the WHO removed it from its list of infected regions.
A Department spokeswoman said they were seeking clarification from the WHO on the situation regarding the Special Olympics.
